As you start to investigate the various venues available for your next corporate or private event, it is important to understand the different types of meeting spaces generally offered. Once you are aware of the assortment of rooms and locales available, you will be able to pick out the perfect accommodations to suit your group.

There are generally 5 types of meeting rooms available. At most venues you will find several are these options, if not all of them, but be sure to ask upfront if you have a specific type of room in mind.

Conference Rooms – Conference rooms are typically equipped with a stage and adequate seating to comfortably accommodate the excepted number of guests. Likewise, they generally contain a podium for speaking, and are usually equipped with at least standard technology, such as microphones and screens. Most venues have conference rooms in various sizes, but may have a minimum participant requirement for the larger rooms.

Presentation Rooms – Presentation rooms are often referred to as “standard meeting rooms,” because they are perfect for not only presentations, but for group meetings as well. They generally have a horse-shoe shaped table and adequate seating to accommodate the number of participants that you have reserved the room for.

Boardrooms – Board rooms come fully equipped with most technology and are a great alternative for your next big board meeting. They generally contain a large conference table, comfortable seating, and are perfect spots for ordering in breakfast or lunch to ensure a very productive meeting.

Interview Rooms – Interview rooms are smaller, one-on-one spaces that offer increased privacy for a more intimate discussion.

Training Rooms - Training rooms are the most unique of the traditional spaces because they generally come equipped with enough computer terminals to accommodate your expected participants. In recent years, conducting training sessions outside of the conventional office environment has become popular due to the increased productivity that usually accompanies a positive change of environment.

In addition to these traditional meeting rooms, most often found at hotels and conference centers, you may want to consider checking spaces at local museums, private homes, gardens, restaurants, theaters, or even renting a yacht.
